Paying Bills
There are different ways of paying bills; sometimes you can choose the method. More often the shop or supplier will tell you how they want to be paid.
Lots of things you will pay for as you go - by using cash or credit/debit cards - other things you will have to pay for regularly and you will need to make arrangements to make sure this happens. That is stuff like rent or mobile phones.
Standing Order
These are made automatically at regular intervals - standing order arrangements are made and controlled by the payer (that’s you!).
Direct Debits
They are paid at intervals agreed by you and whoever you have to pay. The amount specified and collected is decided by the payee (the organisation you are paying). You should be notified in advance of any intended changes to the amount they will collect.
