Good Credit

Credit Unions are a completely different way of getting financial services. They tend to be very ‘local’, providing services in a particular area. Sometimes they are called 'people's banks'. Often they are able to help people who have poor credit ratings and can’t get a bank account.

They offer the same kind of facilities as high street banks, such as savings schemes, loans and direct debits.

Members are able to borrow money - their terms are much more flexible than high street banks and they offer a more personal service than high street banks.

Overdrafts

An overdraft is the situation when you have spent more money than you have in your bank account.

The amount that you have overspent is called your 'overdraft'.

If the overdraft has not been agreed the bank will apply charges or if the amount goes over what had been agreed - higher interest rates may also apply.
